Book Notes

“The Natural Classical Guitar”

Rest Stroke Explorations:
- Supported stroke vs. snap stroke
- Resting fingertip on adjacent string too shallow vs. too deep (to avoid the back of nail bouncing out and hitting the string it just played)
- Make sure to be able to turn the finger tension “on” and “off” as fast as possible. Even when playing an exercise extremely slow, when it’s time to release finger tension, do it quickly
- Switching between rest and free stroke: try to keep a similar hand position for both… keep changes in hand posture minimal. Lee Ryan suggests large knuckle should be located at a point on a line perpendicular to soundboard right above the string that is being played.
